Frequently Asked Questions

What is on-site machining?

On-site machining (also called field or in-situ machining) means performing machining work directly where the equipment or component is installed, with no need to dismantle it and ship it to a machine shop. This makes it possible to machine shafts, flanges, housings, bores, faces and other components right at the industrial plant.

How does on-site machining work?

On-site (in-situ) machining is carried out directly on the equipment or component in the industrial area. The technique is used when removing the part is impractical, too costly or could cause an extended production shutdown.

How is quality ensured?

Quality in on-site machining is ensured through strict control of alignment, cutting parameters and technical measurements. We use precision instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers and bore gauges, along with proper machine mounting and continuous dimensional checks throughout the process, ensuring tolerances and surface finish meet specifications.

What services can be performed with on-site machining?

On-site machining covers a wide range of repairs and modifications, including shaft machining, housing repair, flange machining, line boring, facing, drilling and bore repair, component fitting and other operations performed directly on the equipment.

What is the difference between conventional machining and on-site machining?

In conventional machining, the component is usually removed from the equipment and taken to a machine tool. In on-site machining, the machines and tools are brought to the job site, so the work is performed directly on the installed component.

Does on-site machining reduce equipment downtime?

In many cases, yes. Because the work can be performed on site, there is no need for complete dismantling, transport and subsequent reinstallation of the component. This can eliminate steps from the job and help reduce equipment downtime.
